If you find the Pen Tool in Photoshop frustrating, difficult and annoying then TRY THIS!
In this video I show how to take a regular selection and turn it into a PIN SHARP selection AS GOOD AS the Pen Tool but without using it!

The BEST way to learn is by experimenting and playing, so in this video I show how we can use a simple Curves Adjustment technique and a little bit of Masking to Match Skin Tone between two different people and have fun giving an Instant 6 Pack! π
With all the recent updates to Lightroom including Presets and Masking, we're able to edit our images FASTER and EASIER than ever before!
In this video I quickly go through the editing / retouching steps from a recent landscape / seascape photo shoot using my drone from capture, blending, changing perspective, colour grading and printingβ¦
Is a Pen Tablet just a Pen Tablet?
I was recently sent a new Pen Tablet from Xencelabs (the Medium Bundle) to try out. Was it / is it better than my current Wacom? Heck Yes!
In this short video I explain the main points: Driver , Wireless Connection , Battery Life , Aspect Ratio and Quick Keys β¦

So today (after having had a Direct Message and request come through Instagram) I have recorded and uploaded a new video showing how to add a Backlight / Spotlight into your pictures; a great technique if...
a) You didn't have the space to use other light during the photo shoot
b) You had a light but didn't use...and now wish you had
c) You didn't have another light at the time
In this technique I make use of a (very) quick selection and a Levels Adjustment Layerβ, and the result is VERY effective.
Hope you like it,
Glyn
I LOVE printingβ¦but it wasnβt always the case.
I wasted a lot of time and money in the past because when I thought my monitor / display was calibrated correctlyβ¦it wasnβt!
So, in this video I show you the settings that DO WORK so you get the best from your display AND the best possible results when printing!
Iβll be using a BenQ Display, BenQ Software and an X-Rite i1 Display Pro Plus BUT all the settings I go through translate perfectly to other monitors, software and devices!
You can check out all this kit over on my GEAR PAGE
Oh and if you look in the description part of the video on YouTube, Iβve also added in Chapter Markers so if you want to, you can jump to a particular part in the video.
Enjoy!

I love how we can use techniques in Photoshop to do more than one thing. In this video I show how a GREAT technique that I call the Never Ending Lighting Rig for adding in more lights to your picture can also be used to enhance eyes in portraits by brightening them, adding in fake catch lights and making them POP!
I LOVE Long Exposure Photography BUT what do you do when you're out with your camera and have NO Neutral Density Filters with you? Well, here's a GREAT TECHNIQUE for creating a Long Exposure Effect by combining a number of images together in Photoshop and using a Smart Object and the Median Stack Mode. Quick. Easy and VERY Effective!
At the beginning of the year, one of my priorities and things I wanted to spend more time on developing was my YouTube Channel, and over the past (almost) 6 months I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm having so much fun putting videos together the way that is 'me' and each week learning and trying something new to add to the production value.
One thing that's been missing though is a Trailer; something that in 60 seconds or less tells folks that haven't subscribed, the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHY, WHEN and HOW of me and what the Channel is all about, but yesterday I put some time aside and did itβ¦
Hope you like it π
This is such a great technique in for reducing / removing noise in your photographs using Photoshop, no matter what camera you took with them.
No Filters. No Plug Ins. No Magic Settings. Just a great use of technology already in Photoshop...you just need to know where to find it!
Enjoy,
Glyn
The technique takes knowing your camera and at what ISO noise would appear but. It can be used on scenes and also people (not moving). Great for Astro reducing noise in the skies that high ISO would introduce.
Some folks have said why not just use a low ISO and drag the shutter? Fair comment for 'some' situations but when photographing a person you obviously wouldn't want to do that; best to take the required shots in burst / continuous which could be done in less than a second in most cameras these days as opposed to using a low ISO and getting the subject to stand like a mannequin for a prolonged period of time.
Also great for those times when a tripod can't be used in a Church for example. You could handhold a burst of photographs at high ISO then use this technique to reduce / remove the noise.
So much you can do with this technique that I'll be do in some videos in the coming weeks π
